Three days Fevicryl art and craft workshop has been organised by Home Science and Fashion Designing Departments of Mata Ganga Khalsa College from 4th May - 6th May 2022 in which 32 students of both the departments participated. Ms. Inderpreet Kaur (Fevicryl Expert) from Ludhiana acted as resource person. She taught the students various techniques of making tribal masks wall hangings, coconut shell lamps and tape resisted art paintings in these three days. Certificates from Fevicryl were given to students who completed the workshop successfully. An exhibition of various articles made by the students was held on last day of the workshop. Overall it was a really enjoyable and learning experience for the students which gave a boost to their creative skills. College Principal Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Dhaliwal appreciated the efforts and motivated the students to participate more and more in such skill oriented workshops in future also.
Department of Sociology organised an essay writing competition
Today's generation is very dependent on mobile phones. In this regard Department of Sociology organised an essay writing competition on the topic"Mobile phone dependance of Ajoki Generation"in which 15 students participated. Sukhdev Singh BA third year got first position, karamjit Kaur BA 1st year got 2nd position, Jagmohan Singh and Ankita Sharma got third position. Principal Dr. Kuldeep kaur Dhaliwal distributed certificates to students and also appreciated the initiative of Sociology Department and then encourage the students to do such kind of activities in future too for awareness of society.
Blood group determination activity by Department of Zoology
Department of Zoology conducted practical demonstration and determination of blood groups of students of B.Sc by using blood group detection kit. Students leant the methodology of this experiment and determined their own blood groups.
A group of 25 students of Home science and Fashion designing Department visited Ganga Acrowools limited on 28.4.2022 for practical exposure and better understanding of yarn manufacturing and yarn dyeing process
On on 14-3-2022 Students of Department of Science and Mathematics did organic farming of seasonal vegetables and sowed organic seeds of seasonal vegetables viz.cucumber, spongegourd,cowpea, bottlegourd, bittergourd, squashmelon, okra, pumpkin, summer squash, long melon in their respective trenches . They will take care of their vegetable plants till ripening and harvesting of crop without using
synthetic fertilizers and pesticides .
By doing so Science and Mathematics departments promoted organic farming and entrepreneurship programmes.
Principal Madam, Dr.Kuldeep Kaur Ji dhaliwal appreciated this act of Science and Mathematics departments and encouraged the students to do such kind of practices in future too, for our good health and healthy environment.
A Herbal soap making workshop has been organised by Home science and fashion designing department of Mata Ganga khalsa college, kottan where in resource person Ms. Shweta Thappa(Assistant professor GNN college, Doraha) demonstrated the various techniques of making soaps, face washes and scrubs with natural and herbal ingredients readily available at home like aloevera, glycerine, olive oil, almond oil, lemon juice, rose water, castor oil, rice flour, gram flour, vitamin E, essential oils etc. without using any chemicals. 45 students of both the departments attended the workshop with great zeal and enthusiasm.She told the students that these soaps are without any side effects and are very beneficial in treating skin problems like pigmentation, acne, pimples and dryness etc. Principal Dr. Kuldeep kaur Dhaliwal appreciated the efforts and motivated the students to attend more such skill development workshops as they can pave the way to entrepreneurship.
Departments of Mathematics and Sciences of Mata Ganga Khalsa College,Kottan celebrated Earth Day on 23-4-22 as a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life.
The theme for Earth Day 2022 is "Invest In our Planet".
With this year's Theme of Earth Day, students of these departments celebrated this day by tree plantation and planted 5 black berry (Jamun), 4 Dharek, 1 Peach( Aarroo), 1 aloevera and 1Tomato plants .
Mr Jagjit Singh Kang from Khanna was the guest of honour on this occasion.
Principal Dr Kuldeep Kaur ji Dhaliwal and other guests added vermicompost in the plants to promote growth of plants and also motivated the students to take care of these plants each day and plant more trees.
Madam Principal appreciated the efforts of students and staff of these departments to save the Mother Earth.
Manveer Kaur, a student of the year 2021 received a scholarship of Rs. 3100 in the religious examination conducted every year by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Sri Amritsar Sahib. College Principal Dr Kuldeep Kaur Ji Dhaliwal, Professor Harinder Kaur Ji, Promoter Bhai Manjit Singh and Religious Lecturer of the College Harpinder Singh were present on this occasion.
Department of Mathematics Mata Ganga Khalsa College Manji Sahib Kottan, celebrated three important days associated with teaching and learning of Mathematics on 5-4-2022 in the college Mathematics Society. All over scholars of Maths celebrate National Mathematics Day in India on 22nd December, International Mathematics Day on 14th March and Pi Day on 14th March.
A paper on "Life and Achievements of Legendary Mathematician Sri Nivasa Ramanujan" was presented by Komalpreet Kaur to give tribute to Great Indian Mathematician.
As per the theme of International Mathematics Day 2022 , "Mathematics Unites", Department of Mathematics
in collaboration with Departments of Science , Music and Computer Science organised a seminar on
"Real Life Applications of Mathematics" .
In this Seminar, students of Bsc 3(Non-medical) presented their
poster/papers on Applications of Linear Algebra in Traffic flow management, in facial recognition, in Marcov-chains and in Cryptography. A Model was also prepared to signify the Importance of Algebra in our lives. Student of BSc (Medical) presented poster ,"Role of Mathematics in Biology".
Students of BA/BSc II (Non medical) presented their papers on "Applications of Mathematics in Music", "Significance of Pi Day" and "Significance of International Mathematics Day"
Students of BSc I (Non medical) presented their poster/papers on the "Applications of Parabola, Ellipse and Hyperbola in the real life".
Students of 10+2 (Non medical) presented their poster on ,"Applications of Probability" and prepared a model on "Volume and
BCA I Students presented their posters on "Mean, Median, Mode"and "Uses of Mathematics in everyday life".
BCA IIIStudents presented their posters on "Graph Theory".

Annual alumni meet was held at the college campus on 08-04-2022. under the arrangement of Shromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Shri Amritsar Sahib. In which the pro. Sandeep Kaur called college principal Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Dhaliwal and the old students of the college, were welcomed. In this event, the old college students Jaspreet Kaur, Navjot Kaur, Gurmanjot Singh, Gursimran Singh, Gagandeep Kaur Mandeep Kaur, shared the memories spent in the college. On this occasion, a colorful program was presented by the students of the college. In which Taranjit Singh sang the song, Sumanjot Kaur, Ankita Sharma and Anmol played the medal of folk songs, song, Sahajpreet Singh performed the song and Sukhdev Singh and Maninder Singh performed the songs. On this occasion, 'educated illiterate' drama was also played under the direction of Harvinder Singh Happy (old student of college) by Punjab Kala Manch Sidhsar. College Principal Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Dhaliwal praised such efforts by encouraging foreigners to stay connected with the organizations wishing a golden future for children.
February 28 is celebrated as "National Science Day" in India to commemorate the discovery of the "Raman Effect" by one of the renowned physicist 'Sir C V Raman'.The theme of 'National Science Day 2022' is
'Integrated approach in Science and technology for a sustainable future'.
Keeping in view of the theme of National Science Day, Department of Science and Mathematics celebrated this day through a "Short video making competition" on the topic "Water Conservation". In this way student learnt the the new technology and focused on the most important current issue "Strategies to conserve water".
9 students of Bsc Medical and non medical participated in this competition. Sukhmani Kaur (BSc III Medical), Kamalpreet Kaur (BSc III Non Medical ) and Ravdeep Kaur (BSc III Medical) got first, second and third positions , respectively.Kamalpreet Kaur (BSc I Non medical ) got consolation prize. All the participants also displayed their posters in videos and well explained the strategies to conserve water.
On this occasion ,Madam principal , Dr Kuldeep Kaur ji Dhaliwal emphasized on the need to conserve this resource for our future generation by adopting some simple strategies to save water in daily life and congratulated the faculty of Science and Mathematics departments to organise such kind of competitions to spread awareness about need to conserve our natural resources.
Department of Science and Mathematics organized a training on "Vermiculture and Vermicomposting" on 14th March 2022.Students of B.Sc (Medical and Non Medical) participated in this programme.Various steps like Vermibedding, turning given to top soil and sieving and packaging of compost have been demonstrated by Dr.Amrit Kaur Bansal(Asstt.Prof , Zoology). It has been also told that how students can earn money through Vermiculture and Vermicomposting.Students made aware about the diseases caused by use of insecticides and pesticides in agricultural fields.

21st Annual Athletic Meet Held at Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Kottan (Ldh.)
On 29th of March 2022, Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Kottan (Under the management of SGPC, Sri Amritsar) organized its 21st Annual Athletic Meet. The celebration started with the hoisting of the College Flag followed by the recitation of College Shabad ‘Deh Shiva Var Mohe’. The spectators remained spell bound as the March Past began. S.Raghbir Singh Sahranmajra Additional Secretary was the Chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. S.Joginder Singh Oberoi and S.Kamikar Singh were the Guest of Honour. Dr. Kuldip Kaur Dhaliwal Principal welcomed the guests with bouquets and shared the vision of the college with them. She emphasised the need for team spirit, discipline, leadership qualities and physical fitness for proper mental development. The Sacred Flame was lit by the athletes, which represented the endeavour for perfection and symbolized the light of spirit, knowledge and life. After that the Chief guest declared the meet open .The salute of the march past was taken by the Chief guest.
S.Raghbir Singh Sahranmajra distributed the prizes to the winners. He motivated the students to take part in games and develop a Sportsman spirit in their life. He further inspired them to inculcate the doctrine of self discipline in life as nothing can be achieved without hard work and positive attitude.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Kuldip Kaur Dhaliwal, Principal. She thanked the guests for sharing their valuable thoughts and sparing some precious moments from their busy schedule. She congratulated all the prize winners and inspired them to participate in the games with vigour and enthusiasm. At the end, the ceremony of unfurling the flags was completed by the Principal and athletes. Overall, it was a gala show.
